club roeda is an open, self-managed house with surrounding area for alternative, young, contemporary art and culture in steyr, upper-austria. 15 years ago the club emerged from a historic building, an old carving factory, into a location with a big concert hall, rehearsal rooms for young local bands and musicians, offices, a youth centre, a café and open space for workshops
depending on the different spaces, its current usage is as versatile as those groups and individuals who are taking an active role in it. it has become a melting pot of different cultures, styles and scenes. about 15.000 guests visit the house every year.
besides, club roeda is a non-profit association. 4 part-time employees, 3 marginal part-timers, a few freelancers and a lot of voluntary staff take care of the manifold matters of the association and help maintain the infrastructure. They also organise the ongoing cultural program, technical realisation and public relations.
club roeda turns out to be a social formative power and contributes a great deal to the cultural live in steyr – thanks to the sound and suitable premises, the excellent technical equipment for concerts, events and workshops of all kinds, and to the whole staff who contribute to the functioning of the entire club.
